Kristin Congdon, co-author of the book, Just Above the Water: Florida Folk Art, interviewed the artists featured in the book and the exhibit at MOFAC. She will talk about these diverse artists and their contributions to Florida’s contemporary traditional culture.
Some consider folk art to be art created by self-taught individuals working in an idiosyncratic style, while others believe it to be the expression of traditional cultural forms. Kristin G. Congdon argues that artists of both types express innovation and tradition.
